MISCELLANEOUS FENCING EQUIPMENT TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Maximum length of the foil and sabre grip is 20cm.
Maximum length of the épée pistol grip is 17cm.
Épée grips, whether metal or not, may not be covered
with any material that could hide wires or switches.
The guard may not be made so that the opponents blade will
be held or caught.
The guard must be smooth and not too shiny.
The maximum electrical resistance of both the
foil and épée must not exceed 2 ohms.
FOIL
Weight = no greater than 500 gm
Length = maximum 110 cm
Blade length = maximum 90 cm
The point must hold up a weight of 500 gm +/-2 gm
without indicating a touch (opening the circuit).
Point depression distance must not exceed 1mm.
ÉPÉE
Weight = no greater than 770 gm
Length = maximum 110 cm
Blade length = maximum 90 cm
The point must hold up a weight of 750 gm +/-3 gm
without indicating a touch (closing the circuit).
Point depression distance must be greater than 1 mm.
Travel distance of the point to indicate a touch
must be no less than 0.5 mm
SABRE
Weight = no greater than 500 gm
Length = maximum 105 cm
Blade length = maximum 70 cm
FOIL and SABRE LAME
Electrical resistance < 5 ohms as measured using the
designated apparatus.
Sabre Mask
Fully conductive with resistance < 5 ohms
BODY CORDS
Sabre mask cord < 1 ohm resistance with a length
between 30 and 40 cm.
Body cord wire resistance must be less than
1 ohm from plug to plug
Floor Cord resistance - plug to plug must be
less than 2.5 ohms
Cord Reel wire resistance - plug to plug must
be less than 3 ohms
FENCING STRIP or PISTE
Maximum resistance end-to-end < 5 ohms
